Delete your Kinnect account
You can ask us to delete your Kinnect account and the personal information on it. You do not need the app, and you do not need to be able to sign in.
Right now a person does this by hand. You send an email, we check the request really came from you, and we delete the account within 7 days of that check. If you can no longer use the email address on your account, it takes longer, and the section on that below says why. We are rebuilding Kinnect, and a page that does it for you in a few clicks is part of that work. Until then it is slower, and done by a person.
Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. This is the way to delete it.
Ask here, with your email address
Enter the email address on your Kinnect account and we'll send a link to it. Your request reaches our team only once you open that link and confirm it. The link works for 24 hours.

If that button does not open your email app
Copy this into any email you send us. The subject line is how we find it.
To: support@kinnectapp.net Subject: Delete my Kinnect account I am asking you to delete my Kinnect account. The email address on the account: The name on the account: I understand a person will reply to the address on the account to check this request is mine.
How to ask
Email support@kinnectapp.net with the subject "Delete my Kinnect account". Send it from the email address on your Kinnect account if you still can. Whichever address you use, we check the request by writing to the one on the account.
Tell us:
- The email address on your Kinnect account.
- The name on the account, as you entered it.
That is all we need. We will never ask you for a photograph of an ID document, your NIN, your BVN or a bank detail to delete your account. If anyone asks you for those in Kinnect's name, it is not us.
One thing you should know if you still have the old Kinnect app: its own “delete account” option does not delete anything. If you used it and thought you were done, you were not. Email us and we will do it properly.
What happens next, and what you get
- Within 2 working days, a person replies to the email address on your account with a short code. If you wrote from a different address, the code still goes only to the address on the account. The address you wrote from gets the same reply whether or not there is an account: “If there is a Kinnect account under that address, we have written to it with a code.”
- You reply to that email with the code. That reply is the check: it shows the request came from whoever holds the account's email address.
- Within 7 days of your reply, we delete the account and everything listed below.
- We email you once more to say it is done, and to name anything we had to keep.
If you never reply with the code, nothing is deleted, unless you have told us you cannot use that mailbox (see below). We close the request after 30 days and keep one line saying a request came in and was closed unconfirmed.
What we delete
- Your name, username, email address, phone number, date of birth and occupation.
- Your profile: photographs, bio, interests, and every answer the old app asked about you — religion, education, how you described your appearance, and whether you smoke or drink.
- Your address, city, state and country as you entered them.
- Your assessment answers and results, and your deal-breakers.
- Your matches, likes, passes, blocks, date requests and sponsorships — including the copies of them held on other people's accounts.
- Your chat messages, and your account with the service that carries them.
- Your coaching-session bookings.
- Your notifications, and any rating or review you left for the app.
- Your password, and any verification or password-reset codes still held against the account.
What we keep, and why
Some things outlive the account. We keep as little of each as we can.
- If you paid us, the amount, the date and the payment reference. Nigerian law requires a company to keep its accounting records, and our payment provider keeps its own copy of the transaction either way. We take your name and email address off ours.
- Reports other people made about you, and any report you made about someone else, along with any record of a suspension. A report made about you is someone else's account of what happened, and keeping it is how a removed account is not simply made again. A report you made stays too, as evidence in whatever case it is part of. Either way, we keep the report, not your profile.
- One line in our request log: the dates you asked, confirmed and were deleted, who did it, the address you asked from, the address that was on the account, and a note of what we had to keep. Nothing from your profile. It is the evidence that we did what this page says, and we keep it for as long as we may need to show that to a store or a regulator. We delete the emails about your request once it closes.
- Our database takes automatic backups, and your information sits in those until they age out on their own cycle. We never restore an account from one. What happens to the single archived copy we keep of the old system is a question we have not settled yet, and this page will say the answer once we have.
- Anything a Nigerian court or regulator has told us in writing to keep. Nobody has. If that ever applies to your account, the final email will say so.
If you cannot email from the address on your account
Say so, and tell us which address was on the account. This path takes longer, because we have to be sure the request is yours without that mailbox.
First, we write to the old address anyway, and wait a full week. If a reply from that address says stop, we stop. In the same week we send you two questions. Everyone who takes this path gets the same two, in the same words, whether or not there is an account under the address they name:
- What phone number did you give Kinnect, in full? If you never gave one, say so.
- Roughly which month and year did you join?
Answer them by replying to that email. Something you told us before we asked does not count as an answer, and we will not ask you for anything else.
We tell you the outcome only once that week has passed. If no stop came from the old address and both your answers match the account, we delete it within 7 days after that.
Otherwise we do not delete anything, and we tell you only that we cannot confirm the account is yours. Deleting the wrong person's account is not something anyone can undo.
Changing your mind
Reply and say stop, any time before that final email arrives. After it we cannot undo the deletion, and we will not rebuild an account from a backup.
Anything else
For anything that is not a deletion request — a question about your account, a safety concern, or a complaint — write to support@kinnectapp.net and a person will answer you.
